   Not sure why the priest won’t say them… perhaps because both the summoner (the person who says the words) and the sacrificial victim will be consumed by the Horrors From Beyond.

     P.S. I still have this theory that the priest is not human. My wild conjecture is that he’s one of Carter’s kind, or a related kind, disguised in anthopomorphic form. Otherwise he wouldn’t have the power to open a portal (or at least lay the matrix to open the portal) the way he did it.

       I want to comment on all of this so bad, but of course I can’t. The curse of having a story planned out months and years in advance.
